Developing Teams

Most organisations mention “effective team work” somewhere in their competency statements, job descriptions or appraisal processes. Dysfunctional teams have a negative impact on results; the synergy of effective teams shows in the bottom line.

But how can you make a team perform more effectively? It’s more than just giving them an ‘away day’ and some fun activities. It’s about getting the team to understand how they currently work together and how they communicate as a team – both with each other and with their customers, internally and externally. I get them to look not just at the end results required of them, but what processes they use to achieve those end results. By the time they’ve completed an AML Consultancy team development programme, they’ll be clear on their individual and collective strengths and development areas. They’ll also have a clear plan of how they’re going to make best use of those strengths, and how they’re going to achieve the small changes that will make a big difference to their results.

I use a wide range of tools and techniques, when designing and delivering team development programmes: The Strength Deployment Inventory®, Belbin team types, psychometric tests and tools, as well as making use of outdoor training, which can help teams to understand more clearly some of the processes and habits they may need to change in the workplace.

I’ve worked with all team sizes – I have a great team of experienced and professional colleagues who work with me, on larger events, to ensure that things run smoothly and that learning takes place, as well as fun.
